Will there be a Warcraft 2 Movie?

The Warcraft movie directed by Duncan Jones was released in 2016 worldwide. The movie set an introduction to the warcraft universe beloved by gamers for decades. Despite having a strong budget of 160 million USD, the movie failed to meet the expectations of both movie critics and the video game loving audience. 

In Warcraft the world of the Orcs Draenor is falling apart, a dark magic known as Fell has corrupted the land, killing the crops and all life on the planet. The warlock Gul’dan offers an alternative world Azeroth which is full of life and would be the ideal home for the Orcs. They travel through a dark portal and start the invasion of Azeroth. But are they welcome? And is Gul’dan really trying to do what’s best? 

The introduction story to the rest of the universe certainly seems like there was an expectation for the Warcraft movies to expand to at least one or two more movies. Perhaps ending with the fanbase loving Arthas also known as The Lich King. 

The lackluster ticket sales caused the Warcraft movie to not generate the expected revenue, and because of that we will not see a follow-up to the movie. As of right now there is no indication that a Warcraft 2 movie will happen.

Who could be cast in the sequel?

A big fan of the Warcraft universe and the gaming world in general is the legendary Henry Cavill, and it is seems like Henry would be the fan favourite pick to portray King Arthas in a potential Warcraft 2 Movie.

The British actor first won the hearts of the gaming world when the talked about his love for video games in varies talk shows promoting his movies. He also have a strong dedication to source material especially when working with gaming related material. A diehard dedication that was part of the reason he eventually gave up portraying Geralt of Rivia in the The Witcher series on Netflix.

Henry Cavill was also live streaming himself on Instagram building his new gaming computer which also seemed to confirm his love for video gaming. As of right now the next video gaming related project the actor is working on is within the Warhammer universe.
